206 – Working with the Trimble Feature Definition Manager

Background: The Feature Definition Manager is a tool that allows the user to create and manage feature definitions with attributes and control codes to create line work in the field.   These features may include both points and lines.  Ultimately the features are processed in Trimble Business Center (TBC) software and can be exported to CAD or GIS type software platforms.

Course Goals & Objectives:   During this module we take a tour of the feature and definition manager inside TBC to develop our own feature code library for export to the data collector.  We will learn how upload this new library or upload an existing data dictionary file for use in the field.  Lastly we will download this information into TBC and process feature codes before export.

Prerequisites: The user should be familiar with the concept of feature coding and the use of attributes.
