210 – Basic Trimble Total Station Operation and Procedures

Background: Have you just purchased a Trimble Total Station or looking to get more out of your existing set up?  There are several ways to “skin a cat” in this business and operating a total station is no different.  Whether you are using a mechanical, servo or robotic total station and Trimble or Spectra Survey Pro software we can review your current work flow and/or provide you with the best ways to get maximum production from your Trimble hardware/software.

Course Goals & Objectives:  During this module users will receive an overview of the key features found on their particular total station.  We will examine existing workflows and expectations/requirements moving forward.  We can start with job creation and coping data between jobs.  Next we will examine different prism types/offsets and toggling between saved prism types.  The station set-up portion of this module will include height of instrument types and different station set-up types & scenarios.  We will also review measurement methods and some basic stake-out functions.   Before download options are discussed you will learn how to edit your data in the field as well.

Prerequisites:  Some of the principals and theories in this module will require some survey background.  An understanding of coordinate geometry will be beneficial.
